The Guci Pot originated in China and was bought into Indonesia in the early 15th century when Chinese Muslim traders from the eastern coast of China arrived at the coastal towns of Indonesia and Malaysia. The pot was used to store rice wine and designed in various sizes and shapes. Larger and more ornate vessels represented a sign of a distinguished status and wealth. Each piece is hand made and has its own unique individual characteristics.
